Hey guys, some of you may know me from that other site. Well, this new proliferation of some of the godliest items ever known to Diablo 2 players (even surpassing some of the very best finds from 1.12) has left me a little nervous about the state of softcore ladder play, I must admit. Will the item poof on me?
No, it has never poofed on me, and I doubt that it will poof on you either. Tyler still has his axe, and I'm sure everyone who has bought something from KillersDream still has their stuff. If choosing to buy this item, you must assume this risk. The only way the circlet could poof on you is if KillersDream brings one of his alleged copies onto the same server that your character is dueling on or whatever and then leaves the game before you. The chances of this happening are obviously very, very small. And even then, if you are to perm out of every game, you should be okay (but I understand that that has to get kind of annoying after a while).

I would like to add some further information that I have just recently gathered.
This item WAS apparently found through the game's natural mechanics, I believe, but then the original founder paid to have his version duplicated - much like how KillersDream and totallynohomo paid to acquire duplicated versions of the famous Stone Hew axe. It is my understanding that the founder of this item cannot actually dupe, but has access to dupe methods and programs...like how G2Buy and perhaps other vendors go about acquiring their stuff.
From my understanding, importing no longer really exists. Rather, it's the really private dupes that are the problem. Hence, every one of the items we have seen over the past few years may have been legit at one point or another.
Sup bros, after learning about the history of this item I figured that I had to get it. I just traded for it.
