Undying's PvA Resist Stacking Hammerdin Guide

1. Introduction

This guide - my 2nd on D2Jsp - is how I made my godly and only char at the moment, JayPee... After trying and rebuilding him, as for every char, taking advices and my knowledge in hammerdins... I turned the simple 125 fcr setup into a very versatile hammerdin with an insane ability to tank in PvP.


2. Overview

With the following item and skill setup, your hammerdin will be more than a simple baaler... With the actual pro's of the hammerdin cumulated to the stats of an elite PvPer. Viewing this as a pure dueling char, it'll still be able to rape in PvM... and more than any other classic hammerdin; the build being well calculated on all criteras.

With this build, you will be able to:

Paladin
FHR Frames
0% 9
7% 8
15% 7
27% 6
48% 5
86% 4
200% 3
4680% 2

hit the 86fhr breaking point,

Paladin
FCR Frames
0% 15
9% 14
18% 13
30% 12
48% 11
75% 10
125% 9

hit the 125fcreaking point,
hit the 50dr breaking point
achieve max blocking chances at any level (75%)
hit 80 max fire and light res by staying GM
having an insane quantity of stacked resists in hell - mine stays capped still with lower res and conv on
have a more than decent life
reach enough hammer damage to EZ anything that's moving



3. Skill distribution

Defensive auras

1 Prayer
1 Resist Fire
1 Defiance
1 Cleansing
1 Meditation
20 Vigor
1 Redemption
1 Salvation
10 Lightning Resistance

Offensive auras

1 Might
20 Blessed Aim
20 Concentration
1 Fanaticism

Combat skills

1 Smite
1 Charge
1 Holy Bolt
20 Hammers
8 Holy Shield

In this order

Hammer (20) - Conc (20) - Vigor (20) - Blessed Aim (20) - Lightning Resistance (10) - Holy Shield (8)


Q: Why would I put 10 points in Lightning Resistance?
A: It has a non-visible state that gives you +1% max resistance per point that you put in that will stack when the aura is on. Plus, for every 2 points in it, you're max lightning resistance will grow up of 1% and you will be able to notice it on the character screen.

Q: Why not maxing Holy Shield as everyone does?
A: Simply because defense isn't much of a need and that the build requires resistance more than it... The DR will work better than def.


4. Stats distribution

Strenght: Mine has base + 8 here - This will depend on your rings most likely, cause the rest is pretty common
Dex: Enough to reach max block with a sacred rondache or a sacred targe - Mine has 158 total dex at level 91 using a sacred rondache spirit
Vita: All here
Energy: Nothing unless you misclick! - If so... rebuild!



5. Item setup

This is a very strict builds... So be picky with the stuff you use.. I will not give a thousand different manners to achieve what I'm presently announcing...

Helm

BerBer CoA of course... Fhr, Dr, Res, 1 skill... Try getting one with the closest possible to max DR. 15+8+8=31 DR from a single item

Amulet

Maras - My personnal choice... Unless you spend a ton of FG on a godly craft or rare... it won't be worth it... The resists are greatly accepted and more fcr wasn't needed.

Weapon

Some nice jool'd wizzy - Mines personally 7/15d... fcr/mass resists/mana... Every experienced PvPer will tell you that wizzy > HotO..

Armor

Enigma - Indeed... Pick a class of armor that your din can wear with ease... Mage plate is one of my favorites.

Shield

Very picky... *35fcr*... a must sacred rondache or sacred targe 44-45 base spirit runeword - Mine is 44 base sacred rondache, 35fcr... and closely perfect on all varying stats. Don't even ask me why I'm not using a HoZ...

About the fhr... You get it easy: 55 from spirit + 10 from dungos + 30 from CoA... that's alredy 95 tongue.gif

Weapon switch

Cta of course - CS or flail will do... Mine is a 3/1 HS/Conversion Divine Scepter tho... It can greatly help wink.gif And it's looking nice.

Shield switch

A second pally spirit of course - The stats won't really matter here.

Gloves

Trang Oul Scales - Pretty easy to get... Pretty useful... Magefists are a waste IMO since you are willing to stack resists.. you get a free +30% CR there... from a very cheap item.

Belt

Dungos - Vita/DR.... enough... The DR story ends here: 31+15=46+8 from Enigma=54... More than needed
Also keep a tgod close... it can always help in case of need

Rings

2x GG Fcr rings there... Do not be a damage PvP nerd... my hdin does 11k-11k hammer damage... and it's way more effective than any no fcr/fhr 18K dmg din...

Str or dex, life, mana and/or resists are keys...

Mines are:

Plague turn: 10fcr/17str/13ar/36life/85mana/24PR
Eagle coil: 10fcr/18str/9dex/18FR/15PR/2 light radius

Boots

Waterwalks - Try getting them with the most life possible (65) Life and 5% max FR are very helpful mods on this character... Plus, they are pure GM.



6. Charm setup

Torch
Anni
A few pcomb skillers - I'm using 7x various 35-37-fhr legit pcomb lifers
The rest: Various life/res sc's - Mix 20 lifers to plain 11 resist sc's I presume if you can't afford those I presume. I'm personally using 16x various legit life/res or fhr/res sc's... from 18/5s to 20/11s... This is also how I achieve around 400 stack without any resistance aura on on light/fire and cold resistances... I'm too lazy to add it precisely tongue.gif



7. Merc setup


As this is more of a baaling hammerdin than a chaoser when it comes to PvM IMO... I'm simply using the classic insight mercenary:

ECV Insight
Perf Eth AP Fort
Eth Ber'd Andys



8. My personnal stats, presently at level 91

Just to give you a rough idea...

4.1k life - Don't whine to me... why not 5.2K?... there are many things that can influence it... and idk myself... I'm not using 37x 20 lifers and have max block, and not with the classic HoZ.
125fcr
86fhr
54dr
Extremely high stacked resists... I might count if someone is so curious...
11k hammer damage
80FR, 75CR, 80LR, 75PR - Pure GM
90LR GM with lightning resistance aura on
95LR with tgods on



I wrote all this in an hour and a bit more... I hope that there isn't anything missing... if so, I'll update... I also have no time to write down some dueling strategies today... But I promise that I'll find some time to post them later. And I was really hoping to post this today... So... wait for the rest wink.gif

very nice guide....almost like my hammer...but i use a 20 fcr ammy and a 10 fcr ammy so i have more options on bm items/sorb

You can't really gamble with the DR setup tho... but you can manage ammies/rings how you want tongue.gif

Your damn hammerdin always beat me. BUT bin my auradin for 1150-1200fg and I'll have a character to beat you lol..

This is costy tho... I roughly spent 6.5-7k fg on him to make it all legit/at point.

That's plenty of damage. I mean what's the difference between 12k and 15k in damage when you gain so many other things? Good guide, nice layout, but somewhat standard.
