General Posting Rules:

1. When using any item in your work that isn't yours, you must state so, even if it is stock, brushes etc.

2. When commenting on someone's work, if you do not like it, point out what you don't like, or how you think it can be improved.

Normally, that is called "manners", but many people seem to think it's okay to be a social outcast over the internet.

e.g. "that sux", is counted as a flame, and you will be warned.

Also, try to attempt to reach one full sentence when you critique a work.

e.g. "x/10" or "that's nice", are counted as spam.

3. It is assumed that if you're using any item in your work that isn't yours, that you have permission from the copyright
holder in order to use it, or the item is in the public domain.

4. No bumping in the Graphic Design forum.

No tags may be created without permissions from Moderators, Admins, etc...
No tags may be worn by those that did not get them assigned.
Any modifications to the original tags must be cleared with the tags distributors and creators first.

Any Moderator or Graphic Artist will enforce these rules to keep the forums clean from the useless clutter.

Posting Guide: 17/04/06

Before I give advice on giving and accepting critiques, I would like to make it clear that "Post count does not count", it is the
credibility and quality of what you write that does. The higher your post count, the more you need to get away from the internet.

Artists and responders, please stop asking for and using the "X/10" format of rating, it does not help anyone.

Giving critiques:

1. First of all, be aware that the person posting their artwork has got feelings, so be kind with your responses. Make sure the artist
wants you to critique their work before you do.

2. Try to see what the artists intentions and purposes are with their piece and justify your observations accordingly. Don't make the
mistake of critiquing the piece according to your own personal taste. Most of the time you will not know what is going on in the artists mind,
so keep the critique focused on the technical and aesthetic qualities of the piece.

3. Do not just point out the negative parts of the picture without balancing them with positive points. If there are mistakes you notice,
instead of just pointing them out, do your best to help the artist know how to fix them.

4. Try to look at the work and respond without reading anyone else’s responses, many people have the tendency to copy others
responses, even subconsciously. It is alright if you accidentally repeat something that has already been said, a lot of the time artists want
to see that two or more people have the same opinion about something before changing it just for a little credibility.

Taking critiques:

1. Be attentive to the people responding to your artwork, remember, you are the one that has asked them to respond, so take the
time to let them know their responses are appreciated.

2. Do not be offended by a response, the responder is obviously trying to help you, so take their advice into account.
